Event organisers and industries such as construction and film production that often require emergency medical equipment for temporary periods of time can now preserve budgets and hire necessary lifesaving supplies instead of buying them.
Turtle Medical’s new defibrillator and bleed kit rental service comprises equipment that have never been available for hire before in the UK; these include Turtle’s unique solar and wind powered defibrillator cabinet and the original bleed control kits produced by Turtle for non-profit, The Daniel Baird Foundation.
A choice of defibrillators, traumatic bleed control solutions and cabinets can be rented from Turtle Medical for periods ranging from one week to a few months; people can get an instant quote and check availability at www.turtlemedical.co.uk.
The service also incorporates annual rolling rental and subscription options that gives small businesses and communities and businesses a no-commitment way to stay safeguarded.
Turtle’s solar and wind defibrillator cabinet is a practical option when a defibrillator needs to be positioned away from mains power. Turtle Medical have engineered a new solar only unit designed for hire. The yellow standalone unit also creates a clear and visible emergency response point on site, making it easier for people to find the lifesaving equipment in an emergency; the first people to help a casualty – the zero responders – are often not the on-site trained first aiders or medics.
The new emergency medical equipment hire service builds on Turtle Medical’s reputation in the sector as driving community focused, first-of-a-kind solutions. Mike Dowson, founder and Managing Director of Turtle Medical, explains: “When there hasn’t been a solution, Turtle has designed and engineered one and our new hire service is built on that same principle.
“Our solar powered defibrillator cabinets, The Daniel Baird Foundation #controlthebleed kits designed by West Midlands Ambulance Service and Enhanced Public Access Trauma (PAcT) Kits have only been available to purchase previously. The new HeartHero Elliot AED that has been very popular while we’ve had it on special offer is also available to hire. Buying isn’t always a viable option when the equipment is needed for just a few days or weeks, so we believe this addresses a gap in public and workforce safety.”
The new rental service also creates the opportunity for increased medical emergency preparedness in line with Martyn’s Law, which comes into force Spring 2027. For example, a music festival’s medical tent is often found in a single location in an arena and people suffering a cardiac arrest or severe bleeding injury need immediate attention. Placing a defibrillator and bleed control kit at the other end of the site, with a food vendor or stage manager, could mean the difference between life and death.
“Awareness of public bleed control and trauma care kits continue to rise, not least with the launch of Bleed Map and the new requirements for venues under Martyn’s Law,” says Dowson. “Therefore, now is the time for a fresh solution; we want to make being prepared for medical emergencies at events, on construction sites and film location sets as simple and cost effective as possible so budgets go further. And people are better protected.”
Spare components can also be hired; unopened, unused items can be returned at the end of the period with no additional charge. Turtle’s DefibTrack GPS technology can be added on to any AED rental, meaning the defibrillator’s location can be monitored via an online portal.
Dowson continues: “It’s about balancing budgets with ‘what-if’ emergency scenarios. Retrieving equipment or getting to the patient quickly across a large and busy site can make the difference between life or death. We don’t believe that being prepared to save a life should be a question on a budget line and our defib, bleed kit and cabinet rental service is addressing a gap in short-term access to emergency medical equipment.”
Turtle Medical won Best Community Impact at the BizX Awards 2026 and its commitment to public safety is continues to grow with the addition of its hire service.
